The Executive Board of DWC-SD reports to the membership that the requirements for rechartering the club with the San Diego County Democratic Party was completed over the weekend. Also, all paperwork for our Area Assoicates has been filed with the local party. Whew!
This meeting's focus has changed due to immediate needs of our members who want to run for ADEM. As some of you know, the procedure was completely changed over the weekend at the California Democratic Party Executive Board meeting.
We will attempt to give ADEM candidates the information that they will need to be successful.
DWC-SD is extrem
ely lucky to be able to host a brand new member,
immediate past President of the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association, co-chair of San Diegans for Justice, the group who pushed the change to the city’s charter, Measure B, which DWC-SD endorsed. Measure B passed and will establish an independent commission to oversee the San Diego Police Department.
But there are still many details to be worked out regarding how the commission will operate. Ms St. Julian will walk us through how this might look.
As many of us know, the San Diego City Council
to govern all surveillance technologies in the city — action rooted in pushback after the city quietly installed cameras on 3,000 smart streetlights.
We are hoping to have a surprise visit from a favorite Club member, to explain what happened at the Tuesday, November 10, San Diego City Council meeting.
Resolution to support Monica Montgomery Steppe for president of the San Diego City Council
The Executive Board of the Democratic Woman's Club voted unanimously to support Monica - the People's Councilmember - to be the next President of the San Diego City Council. This election will take place immediately after the new councilmembers are sworn in on December 10, 2020.
An independent coalition of San Diego organizations and neighbors has come together to support an incredible leader to be the next City Council President.
Your Executive Board will be asking Club members to ratify our vote and empower us to add the name of the Club to the list of organizations on this website
