Jan 30 – Action and Election Meeting!

Our first meeting of the year is shaping up to be Action packed.

After the unprecedented assaults on women’s rights, religious freedoms and immigrants unleashed by the new Administration, Democrats united together with other groups, are fighting back.

Our guest speaker is Kathy Stadler who will present new tools, Apps and unique ideas useful for the short and long term struggle.

In his farewell address, Obama challenged all of us to get out of our bubbles, to talk to the people we don’t know in person not just argue with them online. He pointed out that the majority of Americans are more afraid of their neighbors than they are of Vladimir Putin.

It is up to us to change that.

We can lead the way out of our bubbles, engaging with real people. We’ll discover we share more in common with them than we ever thought. We’ll also forge authentic relationships that will become the foundation of change and progress.

Come learn about some tools we haven’t been using (or we haven’t been using effectively?) to make this change happen!

Kathy is an innovative and insightful leader with progressive experience in project and campaign management, community engagement, and instruction and training. She’s passionate about building stronger, safer, more connected communities. She cultivates positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and meaningfully represents the organization to all. Kathy articulately communicates with diverse populations to work collaboratively, quickly establish rapport, and motivate team members to achieve goals.

We’ll also hear from clubmembers who traveled to Washington for the Women’s March, as well as those who stayed here in San Diego.

At this month’s general meeting we’ll also be electing the Officers of the Democratic Woman’s Club.

There’s never been a more important time to organize, resist, advocate, and take action to defend our rights and to write the most progressive platform in the history of the Democratic Party.

To enable as many members as possible to take part in the process we’ve moved our regular meeting time of the 3rd Monday of the month back to the 5th Monday – January 30th.

The nominating committee will present their report and we’ll also accept nominations from the floor for the Executive Board positions.

As well as holding our own election, we’ll also be discussing recent Democratic Party events around the county, sharing experiences from the Woman’s March (January 21) and planning activities for February and March.

We look forward to seeing everybody on January 30, 7pm.
