February 17 – Galentines Voting on President’s Day

Meeting starts promptly at 6:30 PM. Social time will be from 6:00PM to 6:30PM.

There are no endorsement votes this month! Instead we’ll be looking at how changing the financing of elections can increase citizen participation, encourage better candidates to run for office, and help elect more women. Quite appropriate for Presidents’ Day.

Voters’ Voice – Working to Amplify the Voice of Voters in San Diego

Join us for an update on how “mock” democracy dollar postcards are effectively getting the word out about the benefits of public financing and building candidate support. We’ll be sharing the latest insights on how public financing is working in Seattle – and around the country – to provide voters more choice in candidates and hold-the-line against the corrupting influence of money in our political process. And we’ll preview the beta version of San Diego’s first-ever transparency dashboard for campaign finance.

Panel Discussion on Public Financing of Elections with League of Women Voters, Voters’ Voice Initiatives and Represent Us

Public financing of elections

  • What problems does it solve?

  • Who will support it?

  • Which candidates have pledged to support it?

  • How can we advance more democracy?
