You should have received an important email dated August 11, 2020, from the DWC-SD Endorsement Committee titled Your August 16 DWCSD Endorsement Ballot is HERE

Please be sure to open and read that email, as it contains all the information you need to participate in our special endorsement meeting on Sunday, August 16. If you do not see it in your inbox, please check your spam/junk mail folder. The email also contains the Zoom link to join the meeting, a link to view the candidate questionnaires and a personalized secure link to your voting ballot.

For those of you who have multiple DWC-SD members in your family, but use only one email address, we have sent separate emails for each club member in your family. These are not duplicate emails. Each one should be addressed to only one of you. Since each ballot is personalized and secure, each member needs to receive their own email to be able to vote. So if your family falls in this category, please be sure to look for separate emails for each of the DWC-SD members in your family and ensure each of you vote using the links in the email addressed to you.

A few reminders prior to the meeting:

There are 6 races with a total of 14 candidates for us to consider. Please be prepared for the meeting to take the full 3 hours.

We will attempt to endorse in the following order:

  • Chula Vista Elementary School Board Area 4: Kate Bishop

  • National City City Council: Marcus Bush, Gonzalo Quintero, Jose Rodriguez

  • Oceanside City Council District 4: Michelle Gomez, Jane Marshall, Morgan McCray

  • Oceanside City Council District 3: Shari Mackin, Amber Newman

  • Oceanside Mayor: Rob Howard, Ruben Major, Esther Sanchez

  • Vallecitos Water Board Division 5: Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson, Matt Corrales

The City Council race in National City now has 3 candidates vying for 2 open seats. In order for the DWC to efficiently attempt to endorse 2 candidates in this race during a virtual meeting the Endorsement Committee has voted to waive the 60% threshold rule for this one race only. We will, instead, use our Ranked Choice voting process to determine the two top vote getters. “No Endorsement” will always be an option and the number of votes for No Endorsement will be included when determining the top two vote getters.
