DWC Endorsement Meeting August 16 Notice
Please read carefully: Important Instructions for DWC Endorsement Meeting, Sunday, August 16: 11:00 AM
Dear
,
Endorsement Meeting
Sunday, August 16: 11:00 AM
Please join your fellow Democratic Woman's Club (DWC) members for the second meeting this summer that will be dedicated to endorsing candidates for the November General Election.
The DWCSD will attempt to endorse in the following races on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM
The City Council race in National City has 5 candidates vying for 2 open seats. In order for the DWC to efficiently attempt to endorse 2 candidates in this race during a virtual meeting the Endorsement Committee has voted to waive the 60% threshold rule for this one race only. We will, instead, use our Ranked Choice voting process to determine the two top vote geters. Both of those candidates will receive our endorsement. “No Endorsement” will still be an option.
National City City Council
Vallecitos Water Board Division 5
Chula Vista Elementary School Board Area 4
(Laurie Humphrey chose not to seek the DWC endorsement)
Oceanside Mayor
Oceanside City Council District 3
Oceanside City Council District 4
Additionally, the DWC will attempt to endorse in the following race at our regular meeting on
Monday, August 17
at 6:30 PM.
Santee City Council District 4
Only DWC Members who are eligible to vote on endorsements as of August 16 are being invited to attend this meeting, so please do not share your invitation with others. You do not need to take any action today to receive the Zoom meeting link and the meeting materials. However, it will be extremely important for you to watch for the reminder email we will send you on August 11. That email will provide you with a secure link to view the candidates’ completed questionnaires and a coded link to your ballot. That email will also include the private link to the Zoom meeting for DWC members who are eligible to vote as of August 16, 2020.
Access to the candidate questionnaires and the endorsement ballot will be open until the end of the voting period on Sunday. You will be able to vote anytime between receipt of your email on August 11 and close of voting on August 16. While you will be able to vote early, you will only be able to vote once. Please mark your ballot carefully because If you make a mistake, you will not be able to correct it once the ballot has been submitted.
Again, please watch for your final confirmation email on August 11. That email will provide more detail and instructions, as well as access to your personal ballot, the Zoom meeting link and the candidate questionnaires.
Regards,
Yvonne Elkin
