Aug 20 – Endorsement Meeting, No On Soccer City, Democratic Party Reorganization, Emerge CA

At this month’s meeting on Monday, August 20, 7pm we will consider endorsing in the following races:

As announced at our June meeting after the presentation by clubmember Joe LaCava, we will also consider taking a position on “No On Soccer City”. If you want to do more research before your vote a good start would be the website https://noonsoccercity.com/.

Our main speaker for the evening, Steve Rivera, will guide us in understanding how the Democratic Party is structured on the County level, through to the State and National levels.

We also are planning to have representatives from Emerge CA discuss what they do and how to apply. Emerge is a training program for Democratic women who are thinking of running for office. As the deadline for their next yearly class is coming up in mid-September, this is the time to get information and make decisions. Applications are due September 1.

For members who have expressed interest in running for the Central Committee vacancies in the 36th and the 38th State Senate Districts, the elections will take place on August 18th at 2 pm right at the start of the regularly scheduled North Area Caucus endorsement meeting held at 11031 Via Frontera Suite A. San Diego, 92127. Any registered Democrat that lives in the district may run for the position. Candidates will be allowed to speak before the vote takes place.
