Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest invites you for an in person moving screening of the film Aftershock—a true story of two families who come together to advocate for policy and legislative action after their family members die shortly after giving birth. This film invites viewers to think critically and learn more about the intersection between Reproductive Justice, Black maternal health, and advocacy.This event will take place on Wednesday, April 12 at 5:30pm in Central San Diego (address sent closer to the date). Attending will be staff, supporters, and community partners engaged in birth justice work. After the film, there will be a panel discussion with the San Diego Community Birth Center and doulas from For the Village to learn more about how they support families in San Diego County and are working to improve birth outcomes for those disproportionately harmed by medical racism and neglect. There will be snacks, drinks, and lots of swag to give away. At this event, the San Diego Birth Center will also be collecting donations for family planning and baby items– such as baby blankets (new or gently used), diapers, baby wipes, and hand pumps.
