Hello ,Thank you all who attended our Endorsement meeting on Sunday, January 10th. With so many races coming in 2022 we have some more endorsements to consider and hope you will join us.

JANUARY 17, 2022 ENDORSEMENT VOTE PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE NOTICE AS IT CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE DWC-SD PLANNED ENDORSEMENT VOTE FOR THE JANUARY 17 MONTHLY MEETING. As per the notice you received on December 26, 2021, the DWC-SD had two endorsement meetings scheduled for January. The first was Sunday, January 9, 2022. We also plan to attempt to endorse in the San Diego City Council District 2 race at our regular membership meeting next Monday, January 17, 2022. As a reminder, per the Club by-laws as amended on 11/16/2021: “A General Member in good standing who has attended at least two (2) prior meetings, as a member, in the previous twelve (12) months shall be eligible to vote for Club Officer elections and Club endorsements.”   Only those members who meet the above voting eligibility requirements will receive an email from the Democratic Woman’s Club Endorsement Committee with your secure ballot to vote on the endorsement at the meeting. If you are eligible to vote you should receive an email on Thursday, January 13, titled Your January 17 DWCSD Endorsement Ballot is HEREPlease be sure to open and read this email in its entirety, as it contains all the information you need to participate in the January 17, endorsement process If you meet the eligibility to vote criteria and do not see the email in your inbox, please check your spam/junk mail folder. The email will also contain the Zoom link for the monthly meeting, a link to view the candidate questionnaires, and a personalized secure link to your voting ballot. For those of you eligible to vote who have multiple DWC-SD members in your family, but use only one email address, we will send separate emails for each eligible club member in your family. These are not duplicate emails. Each one should be addressed to only one of you. Since each ballot is personalized and secure, each member needs to receive their own email to be able to vote. So if your family falls in this category, please be sure to look for separate emails for each of the DWC-SD members in your family and ensure each of you vote using the links in the email addressed to you. On Monday, January 17 at our regular monthly meeting we will attempt to endorse in the following race:San Diego City Council District 2:

  • Jennifer Campbell

  • Joel Day

  • Mandy Havlik

  • Lori Saldana

Because this race has more than two candidates running, we will use our Ranked Choice voting process to determine if any candidate meets the 60% vote threshold required to receive the Club’s endorsement. “No Endorsement” will always be an option and the number of votes for No Endorsement will be included when determining the Club’s position on this race. If you are a member in good standing, but not eligible to vote, and would like to review the candidate questionnaires, please contact me and I will provide a link for you to access. Please do not share outside the club.   We will briefly review the Ranked Choice Process at the meeting.

Results from the DWC-SD Endorsement Meeting on January 17, 2022 On behalf of the Democratic Woman’s Club of San Diego and especially the Endorsement Committee members, we want to thank our members and all the candidates for participating in our endorsement process. The 2022 election cycle has been unique and maybe a little confusing as the result of the late announcement of redistricting lines. The campaign cycle is always a very long journey, and we wish all  the candidates the best in the Primary Election in June. There were three races where no candidate received the requisite 60% of the votes. The club then went on to vote whether to rate candidates in those races. Here are the final results of our meeting, yesterday, January 9, 2022. San Diego City Council District 6: Tommy Hough, Kent Lee and Aleena Nawabi are all rated as AcceptableSan Diego County Board of Supervisors District 5: Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson is our endorsed candidateSan Diego Unified School District Board District B: Shana Hazan is our endorsed candidateSan Diego Unified School District Board District C: Cody Petterson is our endorsed candidateCongressional District CA 49: Mike Levin received the Club’s Friendly Incumbent EndorsementCongressional District CA 52: Juan Vargas received the Club’s Friendly Incumbent EndorsementCongressional District CA 48: This race’s vote resulted in a ‘No Position’ for the Club (i.e. neither candidate, nor the option of ‘No Endorsement’, received the requisite 60% of votes and the club members did not vote to rate these candidates)Congressional District CA 50: Scott Peters and Kylie Taitano are rated as AcceptableCongressional District CA 51:Sara Jacobs is our endorsed candidate

Congratulations to all of our rated and endorsed candidates and thank you to all who participated. Here is a link to our full results: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1yZGtncr33qqzpSVdc0Y-q8BEX7dFQ70Kjl47sZRAZ_s/edit?usp=sharing
